Meta Tech Provider

The cheapest way to get the WhatsApp Business API

The API itself is free. What you pay is Meta for conversations, and a provider for access. Meta's part is the same whoever you use, so the only variable worth optimising is the provider fee, and the cheapest shape is a flat fee per number with no markup.

  • Meta's cost is identical everywhere
  • A markup is the avoidable part
  • Per number beats per message above modest volume

What Meta charges for Cloud API access itself. Conversations are billed separately.

US$ 0.005

Twilio's own published per-message fee on top of Meta's.

From US$ 9

EasyCoexistence per connected number per month, with nothing per message.

What are you actually paying for?

Two separate things, and confusing them is why price comparisons in this category go wrong.

The first is Meta's conversation pricing. Meta charges for conversations by category, with rates that vary by country, and service conversations inside the 24 hour window behave differently from business-initiated ones. This cost exists whoever you buy through, because it is Meta's, and it is usually the larger number.

The second is what a provider charges for access. That is entirely a commercial decision on their part, and it is the only part of the bill you can actually change by choosing differently. Anyone comparing providers on total cost without separating these two is comparing noise.

Where does the money leak?

In the markup, and it is easy to miss because it is small per message.

Several providers add a per-message fee on top of Meta's. Twilio publishes US$ 0.005 per message inbound and outbound. Gupshup publishes US$ 0.001. Others quote a blended rate with Meta's fee already inside it, which means the markup is real but cannot be checked against Meta's published rate at all.

A tenth of a cent is nothing until you multiply it. At a hundred thousand messages a month, Gupshup's published rate is US$ 100 and Twilio's is US$ 500, every month, on top of what Meta charges. Those are the numbers worth putting into a spreadsheet before choosing on features.

What is the cheapest shape?

A flat fee per connected number, with the Meta bill going to you directly and untouched.

That shape has two properties the alternatives do not. The cost stops moving once the number is connected, so growing does not cost more. And the Meta invoice stays auditable, because nobody has bundled their fee into it, which means you can check what you are paying Meta against Meta's own published rates.

Our price is from US$ 9 per connected number per month, falling to US$ 2 at volume, with nothing per message. At Twilio's published rate that is cheaper above roughly 1,800 messages a month, and the gap widens from there. Seat-priced platforms are a different calculation again: they charge for people rather than messages, so the crossover depends on headcount.

Is the cheapest option the right one?

Not automatically, and it is worth being honest about when it is not.

If you want a shared inbox, campaign tooling and analytics in one product that your team works inside all day, a platform charging per seat is selling you something real and the fee buys it. Paying us less and then building that yourself is not a saving.

The cheapest option is right when you already have a system. A business with a CRM, a helpdesk, an automation tool or an AI agent does not need a second place to read messages; it needs WhatsApp to reach the first one. For that job, paying per number and nothing per message is the least you can pay while staying on the official API.

Common mistakes

  • Comparing providers without separating Meta's conversation cost from the provider fee.
  • Reading a blended per-message rate as having no markup. It means it is not itemised.
  • Choosing the cheapest fee when you actually need the inbox a platform is selling.
Doing this with EasyCoexistence

EasyCoexistence charges a flat fee per connected number and nothing per message, so Meta invoices you directly at Meta's own rate. From US$ 9 per number per month, falling to US$ 2 at volume, with the first 7 days free.

Frequently asked questions

Is the WhatsApp Business API free?

Access is. Meta charges for conversations, and providers charge for access on top. Meta's part is the same everywhere.

What is the cheapest provider?

The cheapest shape is a flat per-number fee with no markup. Ours starts at US$ 9 per number and falls to US$ 2 at volume.

Does a cheaper provider mean a worse API?

No. The Cloud API is Meta's in every case. A provider changes what sits in front of it and what they charge.

When is a more expensive provider worth it?

When you want the product they are selling, such as a shared inbox your team works in all day.
