"Update your WhatsApp Business App" during Coexistence signup
Coexistence requires the WhatsApp Business app on version 2.24.17 or newer on the phone that holds the number. Below that, Meta's signup popup refuses the number and asks for the app to be updated to the latest version. Updating from the app store and running the flow again from the start resolves it.

The two companion clients Meta lists as unsupported once a number uses both the app and Cloud API.
What does the message say?
Meta's Embedded Signup error reference lists code 4563015 with the text "Update your WhatsApp Business App to the latest version to use this phone number", and the resolution is exactly that: update the app to the latest version.
The requirement behind it is stated in Meta's Coexistence onboarding documentation: the business customer must use WhatsApp Business app version 2.24.17 or higher. The message asks for the latest version rather than the minimum, and updating to the latest available version satisfies both.
Which device has to be updated?
The primary phone: the device where the number is registered in the WhatsApp Business app. That is the app Meta checks, and it is the one that handles the phone step of the flow.
Updating WhatsApp Web, the desktop app or a tablet linked to the account does not count, because those are companion devices rather than the registration itself. Meta's documentation also says that companion clients are unlinked when the number connects to the API, and that WhatsApp for Windows and WhatsApp for WearOS are not supported companions afterwards.
In an agency setup the person running the browser flow often does not hold the phone, so this is the step to confirm with the business owner before starting.
How do you check the version and retry?
On the phone holding the number, find the installed version of the WhatsApp Business app, either in the app's own help information or on its page in the phone's app store. If it is below 2.24.17, or if the store offers an update, install it.
After updating, close and reopen the app so the new version is the one running. Then start the signup flow again from the beginning in the browser, rather than resuming a popup that already showed the refusal, and choose the option to connect the existing WhatsApp Business app account.
The update itself happens in the app store, not in the signup popup, so this is a step for whoever holds the phone. Confirm the new version number with them before the flow is run again, rather than assuming the update went through.
Common mistakes
- Updating WhatsApp Web or the desktop app. Meta checks the WhatsApp Business app on the primary phone.
- Updating consumer WhatsApp on a phone that has both apps. The Business app is a separate install with its own version.
- Retrying in the same popup after updating. Start the flow again so the check runs against the new version.
EasyCoexistence lists app version 2.24.17 or newer among its requirements before the flow starts, and records Meta's response on the connection timeline if an attempt is still refused.
Frequently asked questions
Is 2.24.17 enough, or do I need the latest?
Meta's stated minimum is 2.24.17. The error text asks for the latest version, so updating fully covers both.
Does updating lose any chats?
An update replaces the app version on the same registration. It is not the same as deleting the account or registering the number again, which should be avoided.
Does the version matter after connecting?
Meta's requirement is stated for onboarding. Keeping the app current is still sensible, because the phone stays part of the connection.
Is this the same as the number not being eligible?
No. Eligibility concerns activity on the account. This one is purely the app version on the phone.
