Error 131051 means the message type being sent is not supported. Sometimes that is a malformed type value, but on a Coexistence number it more often means the type is one the platform does not permit on that kind of connection.

Two different causes

The first is ordinary: a type value that is misspelled or not one the API defines. Reading the endpoint reference resolves it in a minute.\n\nThe second is structural and catches people out, because the code is identical. A Coexistence number cannot do everything an ordinary Cloud API number can, and attempting one of those things returns this rather than a clearer message. Disappearing messages, view once media, live location and broadcast lists are switched off on a connected number, and group chats are outside the API entirely.

By what you were trying to send.

  • A type the API defines and you have sent before: a formatting mistake, so compare the payload.
  • Anything addressed to a group: structural, and no provider can enable it.
  • Live location, view once or a disappearing message: structural on a Coexistence number.
  • A brand new type you have not sent before: check it is available on your account and in your region.

Common mistakes

  • Building around group chats. They are excluded from the API on every provider.
  • Assuming a provider can enable a disabled type. These are platform level.
  • Retrying. Neither cause is transient.
