WhatsApp Coexistence in Argentina: availability and Meta's rates
Coexistence is available in Argentina, because Meta's onboarding documentation for WhatsApp Business app users imposes no geographic restriction. Messages to +54 numbers are charged at Argentina's own rates: from October 1, 2026, USD 0.0618 per marketing template and USD 0.026 per utility or authentication template, or ARS 89.562 and ARS 37.6798 on Meta's peso rate card.

Is Coexistence available for Argentine numbers?
Yes. Nothing in Meta's documentation for onboarding WhatsApp Business app users depends on the country. What Meta checks is the number and the app: a +54 number already active on the WhatsApp Business app, running version 2.24.17 or newer, connected through Embedded Signup by a Tech Provider or Solution Partner.
The result is one number used two ways. Staff keep replying from the phone, and software sends and receives through Cloud API, capped by Meta at 20 messages per second while the number is shared with the app.
What does Meta charge per message for Argentina?
Each delivered message is charged by category, at the rate of the market the recipient's calling code belongs to. Argentina (+54) is a standalone market on Meta's card. These are the list rates in force from October 1, 2026, taken from Meta's USD and ARS rate cards. For utility and authentication, Meta's monthly volume tiers lower the rate once a portfolio sends enough messages to Argentina in a month.
| USD rate card | ARS rate card | |
|---|---|---|
| Marketing template | USD 0.0618 | ARS 89.562 |
| Utility template | USD 0.026 | ARS 37.6798 |
| Authentication template | USD 0.026 | ARS 37.6798 |
| Service, after 1,000 free per month | USD 0.026 | ARS 37.6798 |
What can an Argentine business send for free?
Replies typed on the phone cost nothing: Meta's documentation states that messages sent via the WhatsApp Business app stay free after onboarding, and only API sends follow Cloud API pricing.
Through the API, each business phone number has a monthly allowance of 1,000 free service messages, meaning non-template replies inside the 24 hour customer service window. The allowance resets every month and unused messages do not carry over. Customers who write in from a Click to WhatsApp ad open a free entry point window lasting up to 7 days, during which marketing, utility, authentication and service messages are not charged.
Can Meta bill an Argentine account in pesos?
ARS became available as a WhatsApp Business Platform currency on April 1, 2026, and Meta publishes a full ARS rate card next to the USD one. The peso card quotes every market in ARS, not only Argentina.
The currency is decided when the Messaging account is created and is not freely switchable afterwards; Meta provides a Currency Migration API for that. Meta's pricing page describes mandatory local billing only for Brazil and India, so for Argentina the choice between ARS and USD is left to the business.
How to set it up
- Check the numberThe +54 number must run the WhatsApp Business app at version 2.24.17 or newer and not be connected to another provider.
- Set the currency and paymentChoose ARS or USD when the account is created and add a payment method in Billing Hub.
- Connect the numberComplete Embedded Signup with the portfolio and number, then confirm the link in the app.
Common mistakes
- Assuming a regional Latin American rate applies. Argentina has its own line on Meta's card, with different figures from Rest of Latin America.
- Sending utility templates as replies and expecting them free. Since October 1, 2026, Meta charges utility templates inside the customer service window.
- Reading a rate card without its date. Meta publishes cards with an effective date, and the figures here are the October 1, 2026 ones.
EasyCoexistence connects an Argentine number through Meta's Embedded Signup and keeps watch on the connection afterwards. What Meta charges for messages goes to your own account, with nothing added by us.
Frequently asked questions
Does Meta charge for messages my customers send me?
No. Meta charges only for messages a business delivers to users, never for messages users send to the business.
Will ARS figures change with the exchange rate?
Meta publishes each currency's card with an effective date and updates rates on its own calendar. Check the current ARS card rather than converting the USD one.
Is the authentication rate the same as utility in Argentina?
Yes. Both are USD 0.026 on the October 1, 2026 card, and Meta lists no authentication-international rate for Argentina.
Can I keep using the app after connecting?
Yes. The WhatsApp Business app keeps working on the phone, and the same number gains API access.
