WhatsApp Coexistence in Colombia: availability and Meta's rates
Coexistence is available in Colombia: Meta's onboarding documentation for WhatsApp Business app users contains no country restriction. Messages to +57 numbers use Meta's Colombia rate card, which from October 1, 2026 lists USD 0.0125 per marketing template and USD 0.0008 per utility or authentication template, or COP 46.0227 and COP 2.9455 on the peso card.

Does WhatsApp Coexistence work with Colombian numbers?
Yes. Meta's documentation for onboarding WhatsApp Business app users names the conditions a number must meet and none of them is geographic. A +57 number qualifies when it is already in use on the WhatsApp Business app, the app is on version 2.24.17 or later, and onboarding happens through Embedded Signup run by a Tech Provider or Solution Partner.
After onboarding the phone carries on as before, chats and all, while the same number answers through Cloud API. Throughput on the API side is fixed at 20 messages per second for shared numbers.
What are Meta's per message rates for Colombia?
Meta prices each delivered message by its category and by the recipient's country calling code. Colombia (+57) is a named market, and on the October 1, 2026 card it carries the lowest marketing and utility rates of any Latin American market Meta lists, including the Rest of Latin America region. The figures below are list rates; volume tiers can lower utility and authentication further at high monthly volume.
| USD rate card | COP rate card | |
|---|---|---|
| Marketing template | USD 0.0125 | COP 46.0227 |
| Utility template | USD 0.0008 | COP 2.9455 |
| Authentication template | USD 0.0008 | COP 2.9455 |
| Service, after 1,000 free per month | USD 0.0008 | COP 2.9455 |
Which messages are free in Colombia?
The same ones as everywhere, because Meta's free cases are global rather than per market.
Messages sent from the WhatsApp Business app on the phone remain free after the number is connected; Cloud API pricing applies only to API sends. Each business phone number receives 1,000 free service messages per month for non-template replies inside the 24 hour customer service window. Conversations started from a Click to WhatsApp ad open a free entry point window of up to 7 days with no charge on any category except Meta Business Agent messages.
Since October 1, 2026, utility templates sent inside an open customer service window are charged.
Can a Colombian business pay Meta in pesos?
COP is one of the currencies Meta added in 2026, available since April 1, 2026, with its own published rate card. Meta's COP card prices every market in pesos, so a Colombian business messaging customers in Mexico or Spain still sees those charges in COP.
The currency is set when the Messaging account is created and stays fixed. Moving later is done with Meta's Currency Migration API. Meta's pricing page describes mandatory local billing migrations only for Brazil and India, so for Colombia COP is an option rather than a requirement.
How to set it up
- Check the numberThe +57 number must be on the WhatsApp Business app, version 2.24.17 or newer, and free of any other provider.
- Choose COP or USDPick the currency at account creation and add a payment method in Billing Hub.
- Run Embedded SignupLog in with Facebook, select the portfolio and the number, and confirm in the app.
Common mistakes
- Applying Colombia's rate to every customer. A message to a Peruvian or Chilean number is charged that market's rate, which on the October 2026 card is several times higher.
- Choosing the billing currency casually. Once the account exists, switching requires Meta's Currency Migration API.
- Leaving the account without a payment method. Service messages stop being delivered once the 1,000 free ones for the month are used.
EasyCoexistence connects a Colombian number through Meta's Embedded Signup and monitors the link once it is live. Meta charges your own account directly for messaging, and we never mark it up.
Frequently asked questions
Why are Colombia's rates so much lower than its neighbours'?
Meta sets rates per market and does not explain individual figures. The October 1, 2026 card simply lists Colombia lower than the other Latin American markets.
Is authentication priced differently from utility?
Not for Colombia. Both are USD 0.0008 on the October 1, 2026 card, and no authentication-international rate applies.
Do I pay for messages customers send me?
No. Meta does not charge for messages from users to businesses, only for messages a business delivers.
Does the app keep my chat history?
Yes. The WhatsApp Business app keeps working on the phone with its chats after the number is connected to the API.
