WhatsApp Coexistence in Indonesia: availability, Meta rates and setup
Indonesian numbers can use Coexistence, since Meta's onboarding documentation for Business app users sets no country restriction. From October 1, 2026, Meta charges US$ 0.0411 (IDR 586.33) for each marketing template delivered to a +62 number and US$ 0.025 (IDR 356.65) for each utility or authentication template. Is WhatsApp Coexistence available in Indonesia?
Yes. The page Meta publishes for onboarding WhatsApp Business app users to Cloud API sets requirements on the app version (2.24.17 or newer) and on the partner (a Tech Provider or Solution Partner using Embedded Signup), but it names no country or calling code that is excluded. A +62 number that is registered and active in the WhatsApp Business app is eligible on the same terms as any other.
The practical blockers are the general ones: a number still on the consumer WhatsApp app, an out of date app, or a number already connected to another provider's app. The eligibility page covers each of them and what fixes it.
What does Meta charge per message in Indonesia?
Meta bills per delivered template, at the rate of the recipient's country calling code. Every template that reaches a +62 number is charged at Indonesia's rate, whether the sending business is in Jakarta or abroad.
The rates below are from Meta's USD and IDR rate cards effective October 1, 2026. In Indonesia utility and authentication share one rate, US$ 0.025, which is about 61% of the marketing rate. Free-form replies inside an open 24 hour service window cost nothing, a utility template sent inside that window is free, and anything the business types in the WhatsApp Business app on a Coexistence number is free as well.
What should an Indonesian business know about billing currency and authentication?
IDR is one of the billing currencies Meta publishes rate cards in, alongside USD and fourteen others, so an Indonesian business can read its costs in rupiah directly from Meta's card rather than converting.
Indonesia is also on Meta's list of countries with an authentication-international rate. A business based outside Indonesia that sends one time passcodes to +62 numbers can be moved to US$ 0.136 per authentication template, more than five times the domestic rate. Meta sets that start date per business and gives 30 days of notice, so a foreign app verifying Indonesian users should plan for it before scaling sign ups.
How do you connect an Indonesian number without losing the app?
With Meta's Embedded Signup, using the option for an existing WhatsApp Business app number. The business signs in with Facebook, chooses its Business Portfolio, enters the +62 number and scans the QR code the app displays. Once that completes, the partner has 24 hours to start synchronizing contacts and chat history, or the business has to run the flow again.
After onboarding the phone keeps working as before, the number answers through Cloud API too, and both share a fixed 20 messages per second. The connecting a number page walks through every screen.
Common mistakes
- Converting a USD price into rupiah by hand. Meta publishes an IDR rate card, and that is the figure an IDR account is charged.
- Budgeting one time passcodes at the domestic rate from a business based abroad. Indonesia has an authentication-international rate of US$ 0.136.
- Abandoning the flow after the QR scan. Sync has to start within 24 hours or onboarding must be repeated.
EasyCoexistence connects a +62 number through Meta's own Embedded Signup in about two minutes, for a flat fee per connected number from US$ 9 a month. Meta's message charges go directly to your own WhatsApp Business Account, without markup.
