WhatsApp Coexistence in Mexico: availability and Meta's rates
Coexistence is available in Mexico, since Meta's onboarding documentation for WhatsApp Business app users sets no geographic restriction. Messages to +52 numbers are priced on Meta's Mexico rate card: from October 1, 2026, USD 0.0397 per marketing template and USD 0.0085 per utility or authentication template, or MXN 0.7298 and MXN 0.1565 on the peso card.

Can a Mexican business use WhatsApp Coexistence?
Yes. The requirements in Meta's documentation for onboarding WhatsApp Business app users are about the number and the app, not the country: the number is already active on the WhatsApp Business app, the app runs version 2.24.17 or newer, and the connection is made through Embedded Signup by a Tech Provider or Solution Partner.
A +52 number that meets those conditions keeps working in the app on the phone and gains Cloud API access on the same number. Meta caps API throughput on these shared numbers at 20 messages per second.
How much does Meta charge per message in Mexico?
Meta charges per delivered message, and the rate depends on two things: the message category and the country calling code of the person receiving it. Mexico (+52) has its own line on the rate card. These are the list rates effective October 1, 2026, which is also the date Meta raised the Mexico marketing rate. Higher monthly volume can unlock lower utility and authentication rates through Meta's volume tiers.
| USD rate card | MXN rate card | |
|---|---|---|
| Marketing template | USD 0.0397 | MXN 0.7298 |
| Utility template | USD 0.0085 | MXN 0.1565 |
| Authentication template | USD 0.0085 | MXN 0.1565 |
| Service, after 1,000 free per month | USD 0.0085 | MXN 0.1565 |
What does not cost anything?
Anything typed on the phone in the WhatsApp Business app, which Meta's documentation says stays free after a number is onboarded. Only messages sent through Cloud API follow Cloud API pricing.
On the API side, every business phone number gets 1,000 free service messages per month, which are non-template replies inside the 24 hour customer service window, and the allowance resets monthly without rolling over. A customer who arrives from a Click to WhatsApp ad opens a free entry point window of up to 7 days in which Meta charges nothing for marketing, utility, authentication or service messages.
Can Meta bill a Mexican account in pesos?
MXN is one of the 16 currencies Meta enables on the WhatsApp Business Platform, launched on January 1, 2026, and Meta publishes a full MXN rate card alongside the USD one.
The currency is chosen when the Messaging account is created and cannot simply be switched afterwards. Meta offers a Currency Migration API for moving to a different currency later. Unlike Brazil and India, Meta's pricing page does not describe a mandatory local billing migration for Mexico, so choosing MXN or USD is the business's decision.
How to set it up
- Check the numberMake sure the +52 number runs the WhatsApp Business app, version 2.24.17 or newer, and is not attached to another provider.
- Pick the currencyChoose MXN or USD when the account is created, and add a payment method in Billing Hub.
- ConnectRun Embedded Signup, select the portfolio and the number, and confirm the connection from the app.
Common mistakes
- Creating the account in USD when you wanted pesos. The currency is fixed at creation and changing it needs Meta's Currency Migration API.
- Using rate figures from before October 1, 2026. Meta raised the Mexico marketing rate on that date.
- Assuming a reply is always free. Past 1,000 service messages per number per month, Meta charges for them.
EasyCoexistence connects a Mexican number through Meta's Embedded Signup and keeps watching the connection after it is live. Meta bills messaging straight to your own account, in the currency you chose, and we add nothing to it.
Frequently asked questions
Is a +52 1 mobile number treated differently?
Meta maps the whole +52 calling code to the Mexico market, so every Mexican recipient is charged the Mexico rate for the message category.
Did Mexico rates change recently?
Yes. Meta's October 1, 2026 update raised the Mexico marketing rate. Utility and authentication rates were not on that list of changes.
Does messaging customers in the United States cost the same?
No. US numbers fall under Meta's North America region, which has its own rates. The recipient's calling code decides the price.
Do I lose the app when I connect the API?
No. The number stays on the WhatsApp Business app and the phone keeps sending and receiving as before.
