What is an Official Business Account?

A status on a business phone number registered on the WhatsApp Business Platform. Meta describes it as a number owned by a business verified as authentic, shown with a blue checkmark beside the name in the contacts view. It is requested in WhatsApp Manager under the number's profile, or through the API's official_business_account field.

Can a Coexistence number get OBA status?

Meta's OBA documentation says it does not grant OBA status to business employees, test accounts, and WhatsApp Business app phone numbers. Meta uses the same term, WhatsApp Business app phone numbers, on its Groups API page and links it to the guide for onboarding WhatsApp Business app users, which is Coexistence.

Meta does not publish a separate rule for numbers shared between the app and the API, so the documented position is the one above. A refused request can be resubmitted after 30 days, and the business profile stays editable in the meantime.

What is Meta Verified for WhatsApp Business?

A paid subscription taken through the WhatsApp Business app, separate from the platform's OBA process. Meta's resource page lists what it includes: a verified badge, a custom web page, enhanced support, a multi-agent account that connects multiple devices and assigns chats to sales agents, and verified badges on up to 10 WhatsApp Channels.

Because it is bought in the app, it belongs to the app side of a Coexistence number. Meta's page asks the business to make sure its business and account information are up to date before subscribing, and it does not publish a fixed price there.

Does a badge survive moving the number?

For OBA, Meta documents one case explicitly: a phone number migrated from one Solution Partner to another through Embedded Signup keeps its display name, quality rating, messaging limit and Official Business Account status.

No equivalent statement exists for changing the number itself, and an OBA belongs to a specific business phone number, so a different number is a different request. Display name approval is one of the OBA conditions, which is why a rename is worth planning before a request rather than after.

• Treating OBA and Meta Verified as one badge. One is a platform status, the other an app subscription.
• Requesting OBA before 30 days on the platform. Meta requires that minimum, and a refusal means a 30 day wait.
• Requesting OBA with two-step verification off or a display name pending. Both are listed conditions.
